Discuss how researchers analyse data obtained in observational research
Aim
Content analysis
** ↓Subjectivity ➞ Researcher should keeps notes to explain how this was done
** ↑Credibility ➞ Full account of the process must be available
4. Use superordinate themes to reconstruct the 'story' of the observation
* A descriptive account of what was observed that integrates multiple sources of information: the themes identified, the researcher's notes made during observation and the researcher's interpretation of these
Aim
- Reduce a huge amount of informations to more manageable chunks
- Use the reduced version of the data to make sense of the behaviour and context observed
Content analysis
- look for themes in the data and code the observations according to those
- Give a superordinate label that describes the set of themes (behaviours) contained inside it
- Behaviours observed can be considered subordinate themes
